
Joseph S. Szurly has spent more than 30 years in the music entertainment and consumer music products industry. He has had success in both marketing and sales capacities with many labels, but he is especially recognized and celebrated as a record reissue producer. He has created over 600 best-selling music titles and music series for the EMI Classics, Decca, Hip-O, MusicMasters, London, Sony Classical, Deutsche Grammophon, Opening Day and Philips labels among others. His unique ability to combine a complete knowledge of repertoire and artists with record label and music history has allowed him to create and develop products and execute strategies that meet market demand as well as recognize trends of today's consumers are well-known in the music industry both in the United States and abroad.
He specializes in Classical, Jazz, Broadway, Christian, Holiday and other "adult" music genres and is acclaimed for creative branding strategies, catalog exploitation and developing alternative revenue streams. With a well-earned reputation — he oversees and conceives the initial concept through all the production elements and components, content management and clearance and on to the final finished product, complete with a marketing and sales campaign, that meet the demands of any client, consumer, venue or special circumstance.
Mr. Szurly is also a writer of numerous published articles, critiques and essays on music and music history. He was a scholarship student at the Juilliard School where he received both his Bachelor and Masters degrees, has been on the senior/executive staff of both Sony Classical and Universal Classics and was recently added to "Who's Who in America". He is a college lecturer, teacher and professional musician and is currently an in-demand consultant as well as President of Red Jacket Music Network Strategies.
